Chrome extension Morphine takes Benjamin Franklin's famous line that "time is money" very seriously. With Morphine, developed by 16-year-old Teddy Cross, you redeem blocks of idle browsing time for blocks of productive browsing. Browse work-related websites for 10 minutes, and accrue one minute of goofing-off time. You can tweak the numbers, but the principle stands: Morphine lets you save time--literally.
Morphine's Options screen contains little in the way of controls, but does offer helpful documentation. To get started with Morphine, you must provide it with a history of websites to avoid. Whereas Chrome add-on WasteNoTimelets you do this using the viewpoint choice, in Morphine you must individually get into information into an itemized launched published written text box in the Solutions show. I had some issues getting it to recognize the URLs: I first tried arriving into them with the http://www prefix, and then with just thewww, but Morphine did not recognize the websites when I analyzed out them. When I finally completed up with just the aspect after the www (i.e, google.com/reader/view), it started managing. The Solutions show does not have a Protected or Apply choice, which was complex at first, but my changes were just used.I kept the conventional time alternatives, so for every 10 minutes of non-blocked looking, I acquired one immediate I could spend on blocked websites. Usually generally basically simply clicking the Morphine system choice shows the present balance, and provides several management control management control buttons you may easily select to get it (+1 to acquire one immediate of sparetime, +3 for three minutes, and so on).
Morphine lets you redeem minutes of unrestricted browsing in predetermined blocks. If you go to a clogged web page without redeeming some sparetime first, Morphine simply bursts up those same control buttons along with your present stability, telling you to receive a while. As soon as you do, your web browser is revealed so you can look through anywhere, and the clock begins ticking. The clock keeps operating even if you're not surfing around a clogged web page, so if you receive five moments and end up using only two, it's your loss. Of course, the most secure factor to do is to receive just one instant whenever, but this can easily get frustrating.Like WasteNoTime, the greatest problem experiencing Morphine is how easy it is to circumvent: Just right-click its plugin option and choose Turn off. The only factor status between you and stalling is determination. Morphine can help enhance that determination, but it can also end up as a diversion. Its idea is strong and exciting, and could work well as a system-wide application that paths all internet explorer and is more difficult to avoid. Note: The Obtain option requires you to the Firefox Web shop, where you can set up the newest edition straight into your Firefox web browser.
